Cooperation of two advanced collections; A big step towards the health of mother and baby

The head of Royan Research Institute, Mr. Dr. Abdul Hossein Shahvardi, along with the assistants of this research institute, including the vice president of treatment and specialized services, Mr. Ahmed Vathouq, and the research assistant of Sarkar, Mrs. Afsharian, visited various centers and new technologies available at Hope Generatiom Medical Institute. In this visit, while emphasizing the specialized cooperation of these two groups, both parties expressed hope that a new step will be taken in the implementation of national projects in the field of genetics, prevention of chromosomal abnormalities, maternal, fetal and newborn health.

The vision and generation of hope; Two sets for the health of mothers and babies

Hope Generatiom Medical Institute hosted the head of Royan Research Institute along with the heads of research institutes and research centers of this research institute on Sunday, November 18. In this visit, Mr. Dr. Abdul Hossein Shahvardi, in his words, described the activity of Hope Generatiom Medical Institute as very valuable. While thanking the head of Royan Research Institute for the correct scientific and sustainable approach in Hope Generatiom Medical Institute, he described these measures and services as very important to create better conditions for mothers and babies. Mr. Dr. Shahvardi, referring to the advanced facilities and equipment available in Hope Generatiom Medical Institute and Royan Research Institute as unique centers in the country, expressed hope that great steps will be taken towards the health of pregnant mothers and babies with the cooperation of these two institutions.

Hope Generatiom Medical Institute at the level of international standards

In another part of this visit, Dr. Hamidreza Khorram Khurshid, Vice President of Technology and Research of Hope Generatiom Medical Institute introduced the activities and services provided in the institute. Dr. Khorram Khurshid expressed his regret about some inconsistencies between research centers and researchers, referring to the high hardware facilities available in the country. He further stated that we hope that this cooperation between Royan and Hope Generatiom Medical Institute will be repeated in other scientific, research and medical centers because with this cooperation, the ability to provide services to the society will increase.

Mr. Dr. Khorram Khurshid named Hope Generatiom Medical Institute's genetic research centers as the most advanced research centers in this field, which operates in the form of two developmental disorder research centers and the fetal development center and person-centered medical research. He also announced the launch and equipping of a new research center called "Gene Therapy" in Hope Generatiom Medical Institute and in the near future, we will witness the activity of the country's first private research center in this institution, along with other research centers in this institution.

The head of the Person-centered Medical Research Center and Genometabolomics of Hope Generatiom Medical Institute stated the national projects implemented by this institute as follows:

• The screening plan for chromosomal abnormalities in the first trimester of pregnancy, which was implemented in the country in 2013. This plan was introduced as a screening model in the country by the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education.
• Omid project 1 includes the creation of a database of hereditary diseases in infants, especially metabolic diseases (594 genes) and Omid project 2 includes the diagnosis of hereditary eye diseases (316 genes) and the creation of a database of 800 patients. In this plan, there are most of the mutations that cause hereditary metabolic diseases and eye diseases.
• The plan to determine the use of NIPT test in the screening of common chromosomal abnormalities in the first trimester of pregnancy

Dr. Hamidreza Khorramkhorshid also mentioned the Comprehensive Center of Genetics as one of the advanced centers of Hope Generatiom Medical Institute, which includes various departments such as general counseling and genetics, cytogenetics, new generation sequencing or NGS, and molecular genetics. He also introduced molecular laboratory, prenatal laboratory and fetal autopsy as the provider of a wide range of services of this center.

At the end of this visit, Mr. Dr. Abdul Hossein Shahvardi, the head of the research center, Mr. Dr. Ahmed Vathouq, the vice president of treatment and specialty, along with the managers of the Royan Research Center, from various centers of Hope Generatiom Medical Institute, including the Maternal and Fetal Health Center, the Comprehensive Genetics Center, the Follow-up and Treatment Center for Hereditary Metabolic Disorders Babies and also the research centers of this institution visited.
